Tanker reroutes around Africa instead of Red Sea amid Houthi threat
- 1Denmark-flagged tanker Torm Innovation switched from the Red Sea to an African detour route due to the Houthi threat.
- 2The vessel, carrying 500,000 barrels of naphtha from Saudi Yanbu to Japan, shifted its route to pass through the Cape of Good Hope instead of the Suez Canal.
- 3The move comes after two Saudi tankers were hit by Houthi projectiles this week, and ING warned that Brent crude could exceed $120 per barrel if the Strait of Hormuz is closed through August.
