Pre-Market Briefing for July 27, 2026
Today at a Glance
Previous Day Recap
Last Friday, New York equities ended mixed across the major indexes. The Dow gained 0.46% to close at 51,947.25, and the S&P 500 rose 0.05% to 7,411.98, while the Nasdaq fell 0.64% to 24,975.82. Real estate (+2.22%) and materials (+1.93%) led the upside, while the technology sector was the weakest performer with a 1.44% decline. Memory-related names such as SanDisk, SK Hynix ADRs, and Micron dropped sharply by 7–11%, and a defensive rotation of capital into telecom stocks like Verizon and T-Mobile was clearly visible.
Current Market Tone
Futures are pointing to a clearly higher open. Nasdaq 100 futures are up 1.65%, while S&P 500 and Dow futures are roughly 1% higher, signaling a return of risk-on appetite. The direct trigger was the mutual halt of attacks between the U.S. and Iran, which pushed Brent crude down more than 7%. The drop in oil prices eases inflation pressures and has also taken some of the heat out of last week's rate-hike fears. However, the biggest variable for today remains the Federal Reserve's rate decision scheduled for Wednesday, and it remains to be seen whether this rebound can hold until then.

Stocks in Focus
The stock showing the most extreme technical signals today is Tesla. Its Relative Strength Index has fallen to 28, putting it in oversold territory, and it has also slipped below the lower Bollinger Band, dropping an additional 1.98% to $313.35. With Nasdaq futures up 1.65% today, whether this pullback turns into a real rebound is the first yardstick for measuring tech sentiment. Alphabet is also oversold with an RSI of 32.5 and trading below its lower Bollinger Band at $319.74, making it worth watching whether it recovers its beaten-down levels ahead of a big week of mega-cap tech earnings. On the other side, ExxonMobil stands out. With an RSI of 72.1 in overbought territory and international oil prices plunging more than 7%, the combination of overheating near $156.94 and the oil-price drop makes today's downside risk the greatest of any name.
Today's Action Plan
